Booker — Technology, Design & Innovation

Booker is an integral member of our team and, in many ways, our resident everything-tech person. He has a natural ability to look deeply into the design of almost anything—from food forest planting systems and water management to irrigation, solar power, software, and whatever new challenge happens to cross our path. He is relentlessly practical, always looking for ways to make a system more efficient, functional, and sustainable.

Booker also has a particular talent for pointing out when something simply isn’t going to work. Fortunately for the rest of us, he is very often the person who figures out how to make it work anyway. Beneath his practicality is an incredible creativity and an instinct for seeing possibilities where others might see limitations.

This year, Booker is completing his degree in Computer Software Engineering at the University of Puerto Rico. For the past five summers, he has also interned at Google, gaining experience at the forefront of technology and software development.

His long-term vision is to bring these worlds together: using the knowledge and ingenuity of high technology alongside the practical wisdom of his rural Puerto Rican background to develop farming systems that can serve as examples for our community and beyond.

We are incredibly excited to see what Booker builds next—blending the best of both worlds while demonstrating that, in the end, they were never really separate worlds at all.
